The law prevents violent criminals from buying guns.
Now we learn that the existing laws were not enforced - and a terrible tragedy ensued in Texas.
This man should have never been allowed to purchase a gun. In fact, he should have never been out of jail.
Despite violence against others (including violence against an infant!), despite entering an Air Force based armed with the intention of causing violence, he was not jailed AND he was allowed to purchase firearms because his criminal convictions were not put in the firearms purchase database.
Gross government criminal negligence caused this tragedy.
