Saddle Butte Machine Gun Shoot 2012
Albany Rifle and Pistol Club
Albany Rifle and Pistol Club's Saddle Butte facility is centrally located in Linn County and consists of six ranges. The Main Range offers up to 200 yards of rifle shooting and a 25 yard pistol section. Our Indoor Range offers shooting of smallbore .22 rimfire rifle and pistol. The North and East Ranges include a classroom with seven covered and five uncovered shooting bays for any caliber. The Trap Range offers automatic trap throwers and weekly organized shoots. Our 3-D Archery Range includes a trail walk with 14 life-size targets and a standing distance range.
If you haven’t been to one of the machine gun shoots, here is what takes place. Vendors, who own machine guns, allow members of ARPC and the general public to shoot their full auto guns simply by buying the ammunition from them. Last year there were over 100 full auto guns available to shoot ranging is sizes from .22 caliber to 20mm. This year we will have an original WWII tank at the range on Sunday and you can shoot its .50 caliber machine gun at the targets. All wooden backboards are removed from the range and a variety of active targets are installed including 3 automobiles donated by B&R Auto Wrecking. The main range is completely closed for open shooting during this event.
